Finance report: See attached

 

1. New Member(s): Miguel Ruiz was introduced as a new prospect. Miguel is a former Army combat Veteran with time served in Baghdad. He presently works for the Woodland Park city Roads and Grounds crew and lives in Woodland Park. Welcome!

 

2. Introduction of Guests: None

 

The Post installed Lee Vulcan as the Post Service Officer at 1912 25 November 2008. No other nominations were received.

 

3. Committee Reports:

 

            Boys State: Nothing new to report

 

            Scholarship: No update.

 

            Oratorical: Nothing to report

 

            Post Home: See Service Officer’s report

 

            Other Old Business:

 

            State Raffle/Gaming License Training: The date is now 06 December with a start time of 0900. The training will be at the Grange Hall.

 

Christmas Party: The Post Christmas party is 16 December with a start time of 1900. Members were encouraged to sign up for side dishes; Another  sign up sheet was passed around; the planning for the evening was going well. Debbie Fugatt is coordinating the clean up and decorating of the hall. The GI Party will meet at the hall at 1000 that day. See Yvonne to assist with the decorating.

 

4. SERVICE OFFICER:  Four members went to the Veteran’s home in Florence to deliver warm clothes for the winter. There are 90 Veterans in the Facility. Thanks to all who donated the clothes, they filled Robert Mericle’s suburban.

 

5. POST ADJUTANT: Membership renewals continue to trickle in. The most up-to-date membership roster was sent out to the Post Leadership the end of August; Member DD214s are still needed.

 

6. POST CHAPLAIN: Nothing to report

 

7. NEW BUSINESS:

 

            Woodland Park Christmas Parade: The parade is on 06 December. A color guard is required and usually leads the parade. Members will meet at the Taco Bell parking lot at 0530. Uniform is dark coat, warm gloves, and dark pants with Legion Hat.

 

            Bell Ringing:  The Woodland Park Rotary is sponsoring Salvation Army Bell ringing around town during the holidays. Sign up to assist in the fund raising. Contact the Rotary to fill times. 2 persons are required to man the locations for at least two hour shifts.

 

            American Legion Plaque outside Grange Hall: It was discussed about mounting a plaque outside the Grange hall. Coordination with the VFW is required. A 30” reflective sign was proposed depending on no objections from the VFW. It was also noted to update the little bulletin board by the front door outside noting times, points of contact and how to join.

 

            Correspondence: The Post commander read and passed around a Thank You note from Catherine Wollf

 

7. GOOD OF THE LEGION:

 

            Sears is supporting a membership drive at all of their stores.

 

            The Department of Colorado has posted changes to their constitution. No objections were noted.
